School Dance Photos: What to Know

A couple of things to remember:

Please arrive a few minutes early. We have a lot of fun photos to get through, so being ready to go at your scheduled time helps us make the most of it. Sometimes traffic, parking, and last minute things can get in the way of starting on time.

Have everyone photo ready when you arrive. Hair, makeup, ties and last minute touch ups are best taken care of beforehand. If you want me to document your group putting on boutonnieres/corsages, you can definitely save that for the start of your photo session.

Don’t forget the flowers! Bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres - don’t leave them at home!

Keep phones and keys out of pockets. Especially the guys. Bulky phones, wallets and keys will show in photos. If you’ve got an Apple Watch on- remove it for the photos.

Bring your personality. You don’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job. We’ll take photos of the whole group, the guys together, the girls together, couples (and solos if there’s time and it’s requested)- and then the other fun stuff.

Be ready to participate. Some of the best photos happen when everyone gets into it, so don’t be afraid to have a little fun with it.

A bluetooth speaker is ok to bring. A playlist of music can help ease a lot of nervousness.

Your location. I’ll be in touch with someone in the group who is heading the photos and will consider your timeline and what the sunlight looks like. Some locations can be challenging if you have a tighter timeline you’re trying to stick to. You’ll receive an address and pin to your location a few days before. Carpooling most of the group will be the best way to get everyone there on time.

Parents are welcome! Feel free to stick around and watch, but I’ll take care of directing and organizing everyone so you can just hang back and enjoy the behind the scenes . Parents are welcome to take a few photos too! I just ask that while I’m actively shooting, you give me a little space to direct the group and keep everyone moving. If you’d like to grab a photo at the same time, please step off to the side rather than shooting directly behind me. That way, everyone knows exactly which camera to look at and we don’t end up with wandering eyes in the photos. Thank you for helping me keep things moving and make the most of our time!

You won’t have to wait long for photos! Galleries are typically edited and ready Monday or Tuesday following the dance. The gallery link will be sent to the person who booked the session so they can share it with everyone in the group. Your gallery will be available online for 3 months, and all of your photos will be downloadable directly from the gallery.

Most importantly, come ready to have fun. We’re getting proof you were there AND proof you had fun.
